IMPLEMENTATION OF A DESIGN GUIDELINE FOR ALUMINUM FOAM SANDWICH BASED ON INDUSTRIAL DEMANDS

Abstract Aluminum foam sandwich (AFS) is an innovative material for lightweight structures, consisting of aluminum core surrounded by two face sheets aluminum. The advantages AFS are a low density combined with high bending stiffness, good energy absorption properties, and recyclability, meaning it can be used many different applications. However, the number realized series applications caused lack design knowledge, as shown in various studies. In order to address this guideline developed. This paper focuses on development such based requirements demands from industry presents structure. addition, individual contents explained more detail clarify how designers supported future when designing products AFS, so that full potential realized. Finally, survey industrial context evaluates extent which useful form support, check whether its application improve process AFS.
